NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (July 21st, 2015 – Bellingham, WA) Space Goat Publishing has announced the hiring of formerDark Horse editor Dave Land to help expand the company’s publishing slate, including their best-selling titles in the Evil Dead Universe. Editor Land joins the recently announced Darren Vincenzo and Publisher Dave Olbrich as Space Goat gears up for a solid 2016.“It’s my job to keep the trains running on time! Land rose to the title of Senior Editor at Dark Horse Comics, overseeing titles such as Star Wars, Tony Millionaire’s Sock Monkey, Sergio Aragonés Groo, and Conan. His books have won three Eisners and one Harvey and he has had the great fortune to work with two successive Russ Manning award winners in 2003 and 2004.Evil Dead 2 fans need not worry, because these books are in the hands of a fellow fan.“In my younger days, I worked at a video store. This was back in the ’80s and ’90s. It was there that I got my first exposure to the world of Evil Dead with Evil Dead 2. I’d never seen anything like it. I loved it instantly!”“I worked with Dave on a few projects when he was at Dark Horse,” Space Goat publisher Shon Bury says. “I was always impressed with his ability to keep things moving forward, even under tough circumstances. When it was time to bring in editorial help on Evil Dead 2, I knew Dave was...

Space Goat Launches 5-Issue Mixtape: Friendship, Love, Loss And Indy Music

NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (July 3rd, 2015 – Bellingham, WA) – Thanks to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Star-Lord, there’s nothing hotter now than a mixtape. But Peter Quill won’t be appearing in Mixtape, Space Goat Publishing’s new 5-issue mini-series. Debuting this September, Mixtape was created and written by Brad Abraham and illustrated by Jok (Big Game Hunters, 40 Coffins) and Gervasio. Mixtape tells the story of the rise and fall of Generation X and the Alternative Rock era of the 1990s as experienced by five music-obsessed teens. Struggling through the pains of growing up and moving on, and united by their love of the music that’s found “left of the dial,” Jim (the rebel), Terry (the geek), Noel (the prep), Lorelei (the bohemian), and Siobhan (the teen queen) begin the transition from high school to college. And it’s happening just as the music of Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M., Pearl Jam and Sonic Youth erupts from the underground and into the mainstream. “Every generation has its own music, and the ’90s were rich with a new independent sound that really connected with Generation X,” Abraham said. “Mixtape isn’t a ‘musical’ series, but music plays an important part in the lives of my characters as they grow and change. They’ll learn that the bonds of friendship they thought were unbreakable have already begun to crack, and the music they thought they’d love forever has already started to fade.” Abraham might be new to comics, but he’s been writing professionally for more than a decade, with credits on the SyFy Channel productions Robocop: Prime Directives and Stonehenge Apocalypse,...
